OFFERING SERVICE

“What you are doing here is the most important work in the world.  In your life, the most important work is to help others with good heart, with love and compassion.  Helping others is the most important thing – more than anything else.  All your wishes for any happiness will succeed. All good things will come to you because of that.  Every action with a positive or negative mind has consequences as a result.  That done with good heart, without anger, without ignorance, without desire, without attachment..... results in happiness.

Other beings need our help so much.  It is best to think of others’ happiness.  By  doing good things for others – if we help others with good heart, love and compassion – this results in happiness.  Making others physically and mentally happy, this one act makes both of you happy for all your future lives. This brings happiness to the whole world.”
Lama Zopa Rinpoche, January 4 2006

Lama Zopa Rinpoche says that centres exist as places for us to purify our negative imprints and create merit.   Offering service at a dharma centre at times one can feel totally blessed and others when it can be quite a challenge.  But always it is an unbelievably precious and valuable opportunity for practice.

We are looking for someone who wishes to be part of a practising community in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.  A strong wish to offer service from the heart as part of their spiritual practice is essential.    A student of Lama Zopa Rinpoche would be ideal but , at the very least, one would have a positive connection with and sincere respect for Lama Zopa Rinpoche and the work and values of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) to which we are affiliated.

If you are wanting to deepen your practice and understanding of the dharma, to transform your mind and are committed to using dharma in your daily life, then read on - one of these positions may well be the job for you.

Mahamudra Centre
offers courses and retreats in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and practice, meditation courses and daily meditation classes.  Teachers, both Tibetan and western, are invited regularly to teach at the centre.   The centre is currently developing community outreach programmes for those in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction and wish to offer programmes in the area of universal education and for the elderly in the near future.    In addition, the centre offers private retreat and accommodation facilities and facility rental.
