18 - 20 August 2023 with Hedwig Bakker

Practicing Mindfulness means: learning to relax and stay present with non-judging and friendly awareness.
Mindfulness is cultivated by paying attention – on purpose and carefully - to the contents of this moment in a
friendly and allowing way.

In daily life we often are not very present or mindful, being distracted, acting on impulse, being under the influence of conditioning and strong habit patterns. When life situations becoming difficult or challenging, we have the tendency to escape, to turn away or act out. With a mindful attitude we can be more present, aware and successful in every moment of our life.

You will experience how profoundly liberating it is to be fully present, and not pulled away by repetitive thoughts
about the past or hopes and fears towards the future. Tasting the freedom of not being caught up in this noisy, busy mind.

We will also train in some emergency measures: how to keep it together and respond skillfully in these moments
when we are spinning off, when we are triggered, challenged, on the edge of losing it so that you can deal more
effectively with these inner and outer difficulties.

What to expect:
- Practice several aspects of mindfulness in sessions of sitting meditation, walking meditation, and gentle
movement.
- Familiarize yourself with the essential attitudes of mindfulness: non-judging, non-striving, beginners mind,
acceptance, presence, patience, letting go.
- Experience the many benefits of a mindful attitude and learn how to apply the insights into daily life.

This course is suitable for anyone new to this practice as well as for those who are already familiar with it: they can

deepen their understanding and experience.

This retreat will be conducted in silence.
