TEACHINGS ON THE HEART SUTRA
With Geshe Thupten Wangchen
26-28 November 2021
"There’s no way to end samsara without realizing emptiness. There’s no escape, no way to escape, no way to be liberated from all these forever without realizing emptiness, that which is the meaning of the Essence of Wisdom, or the Heart Sutra.”
– Lama Thubten Yeshe
Join us for a weekend with Geshe Wangchen as he gives commentary on the most famous of all the Mahayana Buddhist scriptures, the Heart Sutra. This short text reveals the truth of emptiness through an exchange between two of the Buddha’s most illustrious disciples, Avalokiteshvara and Shariputra.
The brevity and profound nature of the Heart Sutra have made its recitation popular as an effective means for dispelling obstacles to spiritual endeavour.
The weekend will also include guided meditations and opportunities for discussion with Dharma friends – all while enjoying delicious vegetarian food and the idyllic retreat setting of Mahamudra Centre.
The program will start at 5pm on Friday 26 November and conclude at 4pm on Sunday 28 November.
