About the Retreat

The retreat will comprise four sessions of the sadhana each day, complemented by a daily instruction session through which the whole practice will be gradually taught. Those who complete the mantra count will perform a burnt offering at the end of the retreat.

The retreat will start Friday September 23rd, 2022, at 4 PM and will finish with a burnt offering on Friday October 14th. Although not part of the nearing retreat, a self-entry will be performed on Sunday 16th October. Those having done the burnt offering are welcome to participate.

People are welcome to arrive a bit earlier and leave the day after if travelling long distances.

About the Teacher, Venerable Thubten Wangchuk

Thubten Wangchuk was born in 1957 in Geneva, Switzerland. He met the Buddha Dharma in 1979 through attending the one-month November course at Kopan monastery in Nepal. After participating in a few more Kopan November courses and several group retreats in India and Nepal, he received monastic ordination from Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche in 1985 and lived a few more years in the East before joining Nalanda Monastery in France in the late eighties to study with Khen Rinpoche Jampa Thegchok (late abbot of Nalanda and Sera Jey monasteries) and Geshe Tashi Tsering (current abbot of Sera Mey monastery in India.)

Ven. Wangchuk has studied with many great masters of this and the previous generation, as well as having studied many commentaries. His teachings on the practice are clear and reliable.
