31 May - 3 June 2024 - Hedwig Bakker

King's Birthday Weekend

Winter is that lovely time of the year where everything seems to slow down and go within. In the natural world some animals go into hibernation, the growth of plants is slowing right down, the veggies in our garden seem to take their time, the days are short and nights are long. Also, one can experience profound stillness and silence being in nature: amongst trees, by a lake or on a high mountain with vast views in all directions.

How conducive for us humans to do the same during the winter months: slowing down and going within. For that reason, winter can be a perfect time to participate in a retreat. Retreat has this quality of stepping back from one’s usual routines & responsibilities, from schedules, chores & deadlines, from inner & outer chaos.
Touching base with yourself, catching your breath, pause, and just be.
This gentle retreat is a wonderful opportunity to do just that. Take time to stand still, come home to yourself, to your breathing, to the moment.
Feeling recharged, refreshed, rejuvenated, nourished and rebalanced as you emerge from our time together.

“When we return home, even for the briefest flicker, our peaceful hearts will glisten with tears of joy.”

The practices that will support our inner journey will be: sitting & walking meditation, breath work and Qi Gong.
Qi Gong (pronounced: chee kung) is the art of working with your internal energy (Qi) through gentle movement to improve your state of being. It is about learning nourishing practices for health, vitality, happiness, joy, connection, well-being and fulfilment. It is easy to learn, easy to follow, and enjoyable to do. The movements are slow, flowing, rhythmic, natural and accessible.
