About the event

All Welcome

Join us for a meaningful day of practice to commemorate Chokhor Duchen, one of the four major holy days in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar. This sacred day celebrates the Buddha’s first teaching after his enlightenment — the turning of the Wheel of Dharma — at Deer Park in Sarnath, India.

According to Buddhist tradition, the karmic effects of actions performed on this day are multiplied by 300 million times, making it an especially powerful time to engage in virtue, prayer, and dedication.

Program for the Day:
  • 5:00am – Taking the Mahayana Precepts & Prostrations

  • 9:00am – Recitation of the Great Liberation Sutra
