matariki qi gong

matariki.jpg

Thursday 19 - Sunday 22 June

Qi Gong (pronounced: chi kung) is the art of working with your internal energy, your aliveness through gentle movement, breathing practices, standing postures and meditation. We can uncover and skillfully work with our inner resources for health, vitality, strength, flexibility, joy, happiness, well-being, connection, fulfilment.

We get energy from many different sources: breath, food, sleep, exercise, other people, the natural world.

In this retreat we will tap into source energy from the earth, nature and the universe to increase our vitality, inner harmony, elevate our emotions, feeling joyous, happy, connected, and create a calm, clear, intuitive mind.

As this retreat will coincide with Matariki: the Maori new year, let’s bring the spirit of Matariki into our practice.

Matariki is a time to reflect on the cycle of life and nature, celebrate the present and plan for the future, it's a time to connect with the land and skies, the elements and our natural environment.

It is a symbol of wellbeing, health, good fortune, a time for people to gather, for celebration and reflection, for peace and joy. Interestingly, this is also what Qi Gong is all about.

We will combine our Qi Gong practice with sessions of mindfulness meditation to strengthen our present moment awareness: the mind being here-now, experiencing the fullness of the present moment. This will make every experience more vivid, alive, full, like adding an extra quality.

It not only supports our movement practice but will also enrich everything we do in daily life: making our actions and moments more effective and successful because you give it your full attention, giving everything that extra quality, extra sharpness, color and vividness.

What to expect:

- Practice sessions of Qi Gong, breathwork, walking meditation & sitting meditation

- Experience the power and joy of practicing together with others in a retreat setting

- Enjoy the beauty, tranquility and rural setting of Mahamudra centre

- Please note that parts of this retreat will be conducted in silence

This retreat is suitable for people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, for those who are new to the practice as well as for those who have practiced Qi Gong & Meditation before.
